The Saturday session 47

Welcome to another lovely linky weekend, I hope you’re celebrating with some relaxing, getting jobs done and of course reading the amazing posts spread all over #thesatsesh linky with love. Thanks for taking the time to comment and learn from the variety of bloggers that join us.

My featured blogger this week wrote about something I feel passionately about – self care. I am currently typing with wet painted nails as that was my treat today. Every day in my house I make time for me, to fill that cup up and I can’t tell you how much is makes me a better human. I really would love to erase the perception that self love is egotistical and caring for yourself is selfish. So, the lovely Mrs B wrote this awesome post and reminded me how much I love standing on grass with my bare feet. Seriously, if the grass is warm its heaven, way nicer than sand. Like Mrs B, I like to light candles (currently got an incense stick on the go) and don’t think self care has to cost a fortune – although I’m hoping she’ll take me to a spa soon *hint hint, either way Mrs B is a talented writer and deserves recognition for this heart felt post.

Hayley, my cohost also picked another talented blogger – click here to see who won her heart. Or, just go over the rules to the linky and click the blue box at the bottom of the rules to join this weeks #thesatsesh

The Saturday session #46

Right, you know when linky people like myself write things like ‘oh it was so hard to pick someone this week’…well I just literally read each one thinking ‘this will be my featured blogger, oh no…this will’ so frankly week 45 was a triumphant selection of gorgeous posts, from self care to putting your phones away, Bernies crazy welsh life…I loved them all. If you partook in the joyous linky – thank you, it relighted my fire of reading blogs.

However, I love learning and Dave from dads-turn nailed the balance between research (facts) and opinions (he’s heart and soul) and is my featured blogger this week (*grab a badge from my side bar Dave). Please click the link above if you haven’t read it, it was all about baby bonding. I just asked my Mr about the initial bonding and he said “it was all good” which isn’t quite the details account you get from Dave’s blog and probably why the Mr doesn’t have a blog himself.

You can also click here to see who Hayley my lovely cohost picked.

Now on to the rules below for week #46 and don’t forget to click the blue button at the bottom to join in.

The Saturday session #45

Whoopee Ive realised something about myself, for my thirty six years on this earth I’ve only not been in a school or educational environment for six of them…four of them were before I was old enough to go, the others were in between various educational steps to becoming a teacher…so, nearly every hour of my life a bell has gone off, weeks are divided in to school terms – therefore its no surprise that I thrive on routine, so I’m thrilled after our well earned summer vacation to be back in to #thesatesh weekend linky routine, I’ve missed reading your wonderful posts, I’ve missed being inspired…lets do this!

This weeks featured blogger is ‘Ideas4dads’, he wrote about what happiness means to me and as a self confessed happiness seeker, it brought tears to my eyes. He is so in tune with his likes, love and family needs. I listened to a podcast today that said we go on distant journeys throughout our lives but always return to the same place – family, Tom writes about this so beautifully and also slightly humourless in his post. If you are looking for a new blogger to crush on, give it a read. Honestly, when a persons mission is to bring ‘sunshine to others’ I’m in!

If you’d like to see who my cohost Hayley has picked then please click the link here or have a read over the rules below and click the blue button at the bottom to join the fun. New bloggers welcome, old too – but please grab a badge and comment.

The Saturday Session #44

Did someone say Summer? That’s right guys this is our last link up until September.  Frankly I’d be two faced to write posts on how being present is important and then be stuck to a device rather than spending a sizzling summer with my boys. So, its good bye from #thesatsesh until September. However, I’m present on Instagram at the moment, so keep in touch via this visual corner of the web or click my blog as I’ve set myself a goal to write more content (twice a week) over the summer, this is mainly as I can now keep my eyes open passed 8pm, unlike my usual working weeks and I love to type when little dude sleeps.

In my house the Mr is mainly home for our dude, so its no surprise that I loved this post from Little Bears Dad all about the equality of parents, who is my featured blogger for this week. As many of you are aware my job in teaching is largely pastoral and I can tell you that their are many Mums who treat their children horrendously, Dad’s who are so distant they are irrelevant and just like the pro’s the con’s are 100% non genital related. After the child’s been conceived what matters is consistency, time, love and and a sprinkle of magic (Okay, magic is a bonus). I adore the clear structure of ‘Dads turn LB’ and the photo of him with his son as a new born creates a squishy heart moment, in truth I think its a bit sad that in 2018 we still need to talk about equality, about why Mums and Dads make equally good parents. Whether two parents are better than one, how children raised by same sex couples may/may not be missing out…..AHHHHH okay, I’ve begun to rant, but honestly if you sat in the child protection conferences that I do, if you have seen that money, race and gender are irrelevant to a child safety, happiness and ability to thrive, then perhaps you too would rant. To little B’s Dad – thank you for speaking out, for creating a platform to inspire other parents and for keeping it real.

Please join us for the last linky before we break, by simply clicking the blue box below and don’t forget to comment on the 4 posts as stated below. Also, thanks for being an awesome community of bloggers 🙂

The Saturday Session #43

This week was tough. The last few breaths to the finish line are often the hardest but I can see the summer holidays are just around the corner (well next Tuesday), child protection issues often increases in my job and the paperwork that follows snowballs, extra cuddles are needed and from time to time I teach a lesson in the classroom and my sanity restores. Our dog is really ill at the moment, so home life is also about squeezing in extra doggy hugs and making each paw day count.

Luckily, my featured blogger rocked up with a winning combo of positive tips and a quote from Roosevelt, that is so fridgesays that I lapped it up like a kitten and her cream. Mummy here and there wrote a post titled the ’10 best life tips’ now personally I’d stop reading my waffle and hit the link above, humans suck at doing things that are joyful, we also often need to be reminding of what we should do – probably because we are too busy in our negative patterns of behaviour. Sams post also resonated with me because having read her blog for a while I know that she struggles with mental wellbeing and the chaos of society, even in my darkest weeks I’m a positive princess – but to fight the dark and shimmer is truly heroic, so give Sam a click and you may also leave wrapped in the embrace of karma, the focus to empty your inbox and the thought process to do micro jobs to get the big tasks done.

Hayley, as always also has a featured blogger – click here to see who she has selected. This linky will run until 28th July for summer so that I can be truly present over the vacation period with family and friends in the physical realm, so join now and get involved, below are the rules and the all important blue box. People who don’t follow them, will be deleted in the void of naughtiness. No exceptions made.

The Saturday Session #41

Happy week #41 of #thesatsesh – so our linky baby would be born by now. I’m not sure why I count the weeks of our linky but I do know that as the weeks flash by it reminds me how quickly life can pass you by – which reminds me of one of our posts from Siena says in week 40 on the topic of how precious life is, its beautifully written.

With that in mind, my featured blogger this week is Jacqueline from GO TO MINDFULNESS, she wrote a list of 30 things to do this summer to connect to your inner child – like I need a second invite? So, I seized the day printed the 30 ideas off, popped them in a large jam jar and we (My son and I) are going to pick one to do each day of the summer holidays. We always create a mind map of what he would like to do – heavily involving play dates and trips to the beach before we start our time together, whilst I don’t like to plan every day I also would hate to not maximise the time with him. I thought that Jacqueline’s fun ideas might add a spontaneous burst to the more mundane ‘at home’ days. I’d urge you to do the same. Freedom and fun is overlooked in adulthood – plus as Jacqueline is a mindfulness practitioner, its basically an invite to have joy from an expert…win!

If you are joining us for week 41 please don’t be stingy and not comment on peoples posts, those that break the rules and don’t put out the comment love will be deleted from future link up’s for two reasons – ‘rules is rules’ and this linky is all about community love, if you don’t feel you’ve received the love you deserved in week 40 please dm or email me and I will send the meanies a polite request or delete them from future links. What you waiting for? click the blue box below…

The Saturday Session #38

Welcome to another successful week of #thesatsesh linky. This week for me was a slow start (seriously Tuesday felt like Thursday) but then whoosh and I find myself sitting here and typing the new weeks linky up. I hit an all time high this morning, woke up buzzing, for absolutely no reason what so ever and decided to stay here. Although this is now enhanced by a glass of wine, the weekend has arrived and I’m feeling great. I hope you are too. I had a very funny encounter with a click and collect deliver man called Mark today – he was super grumpy and even though I was a happy customer he was sad for me at every opportunity. I paid extra for bags as I picked the large food shop up alone, half way through the shop the bags disappeared, Mark blamed the lazy packers. He then showed me my substitutions – I was happy with them, except the Halloumi, Feta isn’t the same thing? Anyway, Mark was outraged. So I changed the subject by noting the lovely sunny weather – Mark noted the high UV glare and I Couldn’t help but chuckle at his disposition.

He should totally read by featured bloggers post this week – Its the lovely Mac from Reflections from me. If you click the you’ll see her post was all titled ’15 ways to feel happier’. Mackenzie is a boss in the blogging world, her posts are well laid out, have a clear structure and IG friendly images. Its like walking into a department store and wishing your house looked like their examples, or in this case my blog. Having said that, the theme was ‘oh so Fridgesays’ and I love reading posts that I wish I had written. Ive actually never done a ‘top ten’ type post before, perhaps I’ll add it to the wish list. However, for now Mackenzie is totally owning this list and if you didn’t have a grand day (like Mark) then its probably worth noting her first point in the post…

“Firstly let’s agree it is OK to be gentle with ourselves! Believe you deserve to be happy and don’t put yourself down for ever feeling unhappy”

If you loved my featured post as much as me, please leave her a lovely comment and use the hashtag #thesatsesh in the comment box. Or you could check out who Hayley has picked for her featured blogger by clicking here.

The Saturday Session #37

I had a little treat today, one of my old pupils came to see me, she’s 22 years old now but forever 16 in my mind. She entered pushing a push chair and with another on the way. Luckily she was always crazy, so she’ll excel with two under two years old. It was such a blessing to hear about her career and how her and her partner have recently got a mortgage and settled. It was lovely to see her ‘Mummying’ like a legend. She always made me proud.

This leads me beautifully on to my featured blogger, the theme of her post is gratitude and reflection as she looks back at what the month of May held for her and her family. Helena from The Queen of collage monthly round up was a lovely way to look back at what her family had got up to. The longer I blog the more I find myself writing about my tribe, not necessarily for the readers but as a way to keep our family memories alive. Helena is obviously a devoted Mumma, but also a creative chick with a flare for detail. If you don’t follow her, haven’t read her posts or are looking to blend creativity with parenting – this writer is for you. Please use the link above to check her out. She deserves the love.

Enjoy week thirty seven of #thesatsesh and thanks for joining us, time goes so fast when you are reading so many lovely blogs – click here to see who Hayley my cohost has picked as her featured blogger and if you are joining us please make time to comment and use the hashtag #thesatsesh – if in doubt, read the rules below…

The Saturday Session #34

Welcome to week 34 of #thesatsesh .This weekend I plan on focusing on breathing, seriously that week was like surviving a whirl wind. You know you’re old when you’re excited because you don’t have any plans…thats my weekend, so I’m going to feel it with chill time, forrest walks and some meditation. Anything more and I’m not sure I could cope.

Each week myself and my super mum cohost Hayley pick a featured blogger each, you can click here to see who she has picked, or keep reading as I reveal mine.

My featured blogger really got me thinking about boredom. Andy from Dads sofa discussed the issue, so much so that I think I might write my own post on the topic. You can read Andy’s interpretation here. In essence how reliant we are on our mobile devices for entertainment and to kill those awkward waiting moments in the day…some children need them to occupy them in queue’s or restaurants but actually theres a learning curve in waiting, in patience and in occupying yourself. Andy’s post is simple and to the point, I always enjoy his humour and would definitely like to sit on his sofa at some point in the future and share a cuppa. I imagine its full of laughter and moments of pure joy…who knows perhaps we could just chill and share some boredom time?

If you’d like to be considered as this week’s featured blogger or just have great content to show, have a peek at the rules below and click the blue box! All posts, genres and bloggers welcome – even the boring ones 🙂

The Saturdays Session #29

Welcome back to #thesatsesh following a mini break over the Easter holidays. If you are new to linky parties or blogging then now is a great time to join us, if however you have joined us previously and are returning to the party then we are totally honoured. I run #thesatsesh with my cohost Hayley and you can click here to see who her featured blogger is from week 28.

Or stay here, read who I selected and click the blue box below to join us for week 29. My featured blogger is an old favourite. She often joins us and always with her unique writing style and topical issues. Lisa from Lisa Pomerantzser made not only some good points, but also in her humorous style looked at the issue of being present and as parents not having our eyes glued to our iPhones / androids. I guess there is a serious side to her message and I have to say I was grateful when Hayley suggested we took a break from the linky over the holidays, I know she had some non techno time…ummm I swapped linking to listening to podcasts, but I certainly am now ready to go again. As for Lisa’s message about putting our devices down, I will keep trying but also be mindful when the little dude is around.
