Life is always in motion so I cannot be stuck

Quote by Esther Hicks, the princess of Law of Attraction.

I often feel stuck. Please don’t misinterpret this as I’m grateful  for all I have, for I know it’s much more than most…but stuck is how I often feel.

Stuck with 9am-5pm, which is actually more 7am to silly o’clock, and in seasons gone by the dark nights make feeling stuck a little more like I’m being suffocated.

The bit that I dislike the most is ‘adulting’ between you and me I’m really not a fan. I don’t mind the responsibility or the chores, for me personally it’s the reality of it all. One of my favourite birthday gifts was my 27th. My other half bought me a huge trampoline and I realised (probably whilst jumping up and down) that that is the secret to life…no not trampolines although they are pretty awesome in the fun department, let me explain.

When I was growing up our back garden was a little narrow and had a good gradient to it. So it’s no surprise that giant trampolines (14ft) weren’t practical.

As an adult with a much flatter and wider garden – it was achievable. I think adults often limit the ‘fun’ they have, I also think that we don’t stop to look around. We rush and go from supermarket shop to meetings with friends and family and the motion of life gets distorted. We decide what behaviour is appropriate or immature – in short, we limit ourselves.

I have a solution. I’ve been doing it for a while (within reason) I watch my son and do my best to observe the sights and sounds he sees, I try never to say no when he asks me to read and yes to when he asks me to play. I say within reason as sometimes the adult in me needs to get to work (that sucks).

If you’re reading this then you are blessed – life is still in motion for you, as I’ve written before you are the writer, author and most importantly the creator of your journey. You can live it 9am-5pm like a robotic clock that is consumed by bills and getting by…or you can buy a trampoline and laugh from your toes, smell the daisies or snuggle up with your loved ones and read a good book.

Enjoy the motion of life and make it work at a pace that suits your dreams and aspirations.

I’m not weird…

 Anon strikes again.

This is a classic quote, you’ve probably seen it on tshirts or pencils, perhaps even a mug?

It does however make me chuckle and then make me realise how crazy  this little planet of ours is.

For example furniture at the dump is ‘junk’…in an antique shop it’s a desirable, and even more on trend if we call it ‘vintage’…

With a pinch of perspective we can create negatives or positives. When I was at school and still today the majority of teenagers want to fit in, unique is horrendous and desirable is ‘the same’. We have a really strict uniform policy at the school that I teach at, except for coats…if you look at kids coming in literally 8/10 girls are wearing a khaki  green coat with a fluffy hood trim – teenagers in an attempt to be excepted increase their uniform just by fitting in. Anyone who steps outside of the box, by just a fraction is called weird…

As adults weird becomes unique and although we may still try at times to fit in, most of us and definetly me included aren’t bothered about being slightly off the page. By ‘limited edition’ we transform into desirable individuals and in this day and age technology clones us enough, so this post is a general reminder to love your inner quirks and embrace your individuality – it may be the limited edition quality  that gives you a promotion or new pathway you desire.

If that isn’t enough then another quote by Michael Jackson also resonates with me ‘no one normal ever made history’, perhaps history changing isn’t your thing but how wonderful would it be to impact this world in some small positive way…you have the power to do so. Use it wisely.

You can’t act like a flip flop..

Quote by Anon – may be in my top five quotes of all time.
So after my love of Disney – shoes come a very fast second…well more a 1.5 from Disney.

I remember the first shoes I ever loved; they were my Mums heels, a classic Fuscha pink number that she wore to a wedding and although they never fitted me, I loved to pop them on and tottle around the house.

This quote resonates with me because flip flops are sloppy, reserved for the beach and ‘back door shoes’ but heels, oh they are for dancing, prancing, they physically lift you, improve posture (not so great for the knees) and Cinderella’s slipper shows a sparkly heel that can change your life.

If you were a shoe what would you be? A sporty trainer, a thick soled walking boot or a high brand designer number that is both limited and appreciated by those that understand heels…

Are you a budget buy sneaker or a limited edition trainer with a whizzy bubble under heel to improve efficiency and performance.

Perhaps more importantly is what you actually enjoy wearing, how you want to be seen and where you see yourself heading, don’t get me wrong we all have our slouchy slipper days and our fair share of welly weekends surrounded by puddles of misery…the other great thing about shoes is maybe wellies are your happy footwear ‘sole mate’ (my little boy lights up when his Thomas the Tank wellies come out to play), perhaps that actual shoe is irrelevant and actually it’s more important that you act how you wish to be treated.

So aim high, be a limited edition, appreciated and bring joy to those that walk with you on your journey.

Peace comes from within…

What a terrible reflection in this picture? So sorry. This quote is from Buddha.

When I wake up late, the toast burns, the traffic lights take forever to change to green and my day generally collapses into a pile of chaos…peace is hard to imagine, let alone re establish.

Many gurus in motivation and life coaches suggest that your morning routine is the most important of the day, it sets you up – although I agree, I’m not sure many of them have a toddler in tow, a nursery bag to pack, coats to grab (or not, I always forget my own) and of course the most essential meal of the day – which I call the ‘ram it in and run’ meal, I have heard people also refer to it as breakfast.

My mornings are precious and regular readers will know I’m partial to waking before the birds to catch my breath, a yoga session or just to walk around the house giving order to objects and in turn order to my day.

However my favourite ritual is what I’m doing as I write this post – Sunday evenings.

It is precious.

First, I walk the dog – alone (as in, not with a toddler), nature and walking is good for my soul. I then come home to help pop a little man in to his PJ’s and settle him for the night – next is bath time, mummy style.

For me, there HAS to be posh bubbles and classic fm blaring, the water has to be so hot my skin is pink, no toys insight – the rubber duck who use to keep me company is now strictly for toddler tides.

My only other essential is some sort of facial ‘treat’, it could be mask, new exfoliator or cleanser.

Tonight Mr Fridge came up trumps – a knock and glass of red wine was delivered…win!

Then it’s downstairs for some blogging, Twitter action and general wind down / social media time and lastly I paint my toes red.
I’ve been a red chick on my tootsies since I was 13yrs old, all seasons – no excuses and the polish has to be high brand…OPI coca cola is my current favourite.

Not long after the paint is dry am I ready for a good book before I close my eyes and the chapter of the weekend comes to a close, I’m fighting fit ready for the week ahead.
This is my ‘peace’ perhaps cliche but a bubble bath and ‘me’ time is how I control the rest of the week – I set the tone and it comes from within.

How do you find peace? (Remember it’s important that you make time for yourself, as much as you make time for your children’s pack lunch boxes or paying those horrible bills…make time, you’re worth it)

This is your world…

Quote by Gary Lew

So it turns out there is a new type of person in society. Previous to this we all blamed ‘them’ because ‘they’ told us to frankly! ‘They’ often let us down and just as we moved on with our lives content in our little bubbles of sparkle and delight…’shapers’ came in.

I know it sounds like some kind of evil marvel character, but once I described them I bet you’ll know loads of them.

A shaper is someone who enters your life and then slowly over time uses your skill set to better themselves. Managers in the work environment often shape, I guess it’s the nature of managing BUT a shaper takes the credit for your hard work and it becomes there idea.

In relationships shapers are also common. It’s good for your boyfriend/girlfriend to enhance your world…but if they’re a shaper they are going to mould you into what they want, for their benefit. Looking back at past relationships I’ll fully agree that I’ve dated a shaper or two, and if I’m really honest I was a shaper for a little while (his girlfriend and now wife should thank me haha).

This quote is a simple one, it’s the eggs on toast of the quote world (quick, easy and good for you)…if you’ve lost who you are or are making changes to suit somebody else’s needs…chances are you’re been ‘shaped’. Like I said previously, if it’s a positive change and you’re happy with it then great – change can be a wonderful thing, but if you are discontent and slightly frustrated then it’s time to shape up! (See what I did there)

We are only around for such a small amount of time, make sure you’re on the pathway you want to be and not cutting though someone else’s route to benefit them.

Have a lovely week 🙂
