Do more of what makes you happy

Quote Anon

This is a quick post today to take a moment to reflect. What makes you happy? Perhaps an easier question is what do you enjoy doing? Sometimes ‘happiness’ can feel out of reach and often is experienced as a fleeting moment that comes and goes.

We can often become overwhelmed by the ever growing list of things we should be doing and forget to make time for the things we enjoy simply because we enjoy them. We wait for excuse to celebrate, to break open the fizz or wait for an occasion to make the effort to see loved ones…

Todays advice is much like Nikes slogan: just do it. Book the theatre tickets, book the plane tickets – see the world, or don’t see the world. Grab a cup of tea in your favourite cup, add your favourite snack and read a good book. Step into your authentic place of happiness

You are worthy of a life that makes you smile. A life that is sprinkled with moments of joy. Surround yourself with people that love you and that you love in return and don’t waste your time in relationships you’ve outgrown or people who don’t have your best interests at heart.

If I reflect on many of my happiest moments, the great news is they often financially cost very little, if anything. They always involve my loved ones and some last longer than others. Imagine a world where you prioritised how you felt as much as you made time to remember to put the bins out. Now imagine everyone in the world prioritised their happiness and not just their own, but took others peoples happiness into account. How incredible would that world be and how many of our planets struggles would dissipate? It all starts with a sprinkle of your own happiness and a reflection on what matters to you.

You are not weak for needing time to sort through this

Quote from MHN

Currently I’m in a whirlwind of festive get togethers, chores and life’s demands. December brings joy but also preparation. As regular readers will know I also go HUGE on intentions and goals, as we step into 2019 my bucket list flows with plans, ideas and steps towards making my dreams come true.

The carousel of life, even in the most joyful times can sometimes need a pause. As a park ride, the carousel has always been a favourite of mine. Usually in the centre of the action, the glistening fairy lights and twinkling music draws my inner child in like a warm hug. However, I wouldn’t want to stay on a carousel for a long period of time. Life’s issue – even joyful moments are often served quick and unexpected. The joy is in a moment and a moment should never last a life time.

You are not weak or selfish for needing time to sort through an issue that’s present in your life. Often as humans, much like a carousel we are presented with an issue, or view of the world, think we’ve dealt with it, only to see the pattern emerge in another aspect of our life.

I urge you to create time to reassess your journey. To jump off of the carousel and spend time sorting through the issue. Life is best with variation and the carousel isn’t going anywhere, so take a ride on the Big Dipper, you never know what you’re missing.

Beauty is an attitude

Quote by Estée Lauder

Boom! This quote is everything. For those of you born with a disadvantaged face, that thinks they need to be something that they aren’t, that believes beauty is physical – it’s a good day. You need two things to be beautiful and neither are related to HOW you look.

I hate to double quote but Roald Dahl gives us an insight into beauty with gem from the classic children’s book The Twits:

“A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”

You see kind thoughts create our reality and as I’ve discussed in so many of my posts, when you come from a place of good basic maths tells us that good things can be the only outcome, so rule one is think good thoughts and don’t forget this means thinking kindly internally about yourself and your capabilities.

So now the thoughts are flowing in a state of positivity, it’s time to put the coat of attitude on. Many jump for the obvious option – arrogance, but that often becomes ugly quickly and comes from your ego. That said, it can be breathtakingly beautiful (its usually the images you see on the front of magazines). I would encourage you to select my personal favourite; the transparent sparkly rain Mack. Basically how this item works is you are you – it’s transparent so everyone can see you. The sparkles are the bits you want to show off, extend those eyelashes with your favourite mascara, wear a top that makes you feel fabulous, style your hair in a way that makes you magical; that’s your sparkle. Then own that Mack, write your name in it. Invest in it and of course look after it. Hold your head high and I promise you will feel beautiful. This in turn will magnetise you to lovely people, wonderful experiences and genuine compliments. Beauty is an attitude, not a physical state.
