I’m not sure when I first saw this quote but it blew me away, I believe it may be one of those messages that we need to be remind of.
This week I haven’t been feeling too well, not exactly ill but defiantly not firing on all cylinders . My sparkle count tells me that I’m lacking in the glitter department and as a result housework has taken a back seat and arrangements with friends have had to be cancelled. I’ve become rather dormant like a hedgehog snuggling down for Autumn.
I’m not sure the dark mornings are helping, in fact they make getting out of bed a huge effort…
But all of the above is ok. (Note to self: keep reading this line until you believe it)
It’s ok because I need to take care of the important things, to prioritise my health above the dusting. It’s ok because in slowing life’s pace down I’ve prevented static days of illness. Health and emotional wellbeing are probably all that do truly matter, the rest of life (that I probably spend too much time dedicating my life to) is irrelevant… My grave stone won’t refer to the year I completed my Christmas shopping 2 months before the event, it won’t refer to my job and the late nights, I doubt my son will remember me as a mother who ironed (well he can’t in this case because I don’t haha)
As you snuggle down this Autumn take a look at the quote above and question what’s important to you and what percentage of time you are giving it, it made be time to alter your current perspective.
I needed to read this today. You have a lovely way of putting things into perspective. Thank you! #thesatsesh

I love the way you write Lucy, it’s so honest and refreshing. I need to re read this on average around 3 times daily! I’m an anxious type who can easily get caught up and overwhelmed by the trivial and generally insignificant ‘stuff’ of life and reminders like this are so important! #thesatsesh

It’s very true, some things just need to be left and some times you just need to focus on you. Hope your sparkle returns and you’re feeling back on form soon x #thesatsesh

This is a very good reminder! I tend to overthink and just generally try to do everything , because I feel I have to. But you can’t do everything, have to prioritise! #thesaturdaysesh

Really needed to read this today! I’ve had a day where I’ve stressedabout the state of my house (I have stuff everywhere as we’ve just got rid of our study to make it our daughters bedroom) and I started to get nesting feelings as I’m expecting my second… but I was shattered because I slept bad and actually I just rested for an hour on the sofa. I felt guilty, but the housework can wait!! #thesatsesh

Absolutely- you can do everything, just not all of it today

There’s definitely a lot to think about in this post. In my last 3 years of motherhood, i feel like I’ve just grown more tired, lost and uninterested in the things I used to be before. I think at this point, I need to find myself again. And that doesn’t mean going back to the self I used to be, but to find a new self that I can be happy with. I don’t know if I’m making any sense, kind of just writing how i feel lol. #thesatsesh

It makes perfect sense. You would ask a child of 7yrs to wear the clothes that they wore aged 3/4. Time to flourish mumma x

Gosh you’ve already finished the Christrmas shop! You sound like you are very organised. I too find autumn to be lulling me into a state of hibernation but understand that we need some time outdoors to feel better. #thesatsesh

Yes I need to keep reading that post too – “all of the above is okay”. I berate myself so much if I’m not on top form. I feel like I have failed. My brain does not have a “good enough” category – only perfection or failure. But you’re right – some things are not important and some things do not need to be attacked at a perfection level. Thank you for the reminder.
And congratulations because someone loved this post so much, they added it to the BlogCrush linky! Feel free to collect your “I’ve been featured” blog badge 🙂 #blogcrush
